Sherwood Forest/University District |
Sherwood Forest has been a proud part of Detroit's heritage since 1917. The neighborhood is known for its architecturally distinctive homes, its quiet, winding streets, its convenient city location and its talented and friendly residents. Most of the approximately 435 homes were built in the 1920's and 1930's. In 2002, we were honored by being named a Detroit Historic District. |

The University District is known for its tree-lined streets, architectural variety, central location in the Detroit metropolitan area, and strong sense of community. Located in north central Detroit, one mile west of Woodward Avenue, the University District is named for its neighbor to the south, the University of Detroit Mercy (UDM). The neighborhood is bounded on the north by residential Seven Mile Road, on the south by McNichols Road and the UDM campus, and on the east by the Detroit Golf Club and Golf Club Estates. The western boundary is Livernois Avenue. Pilgrim Village near the University of Detroit-Mercy campus and bounded by Livernois, Idaho, Puritan and Fenkell, developed during the 1920s. Pilgrim Village is the birthplace of the Honey Baked Ham Company, which started on Fenkell in 1957. |
